Stephen Harper meets with First Nations leaders again
The government is addressing frustrations felt by Aboriginals regarding recent changes in laws. The Mikisew Cree First Nation and the Frog Lake First Nation want a Federal Court order that would force the government to adjust measures based on their concerns. The Chief of Mikisew Cree First Nations told the Toronto Star, “What they’re doing is wrong” and called for other Canadians to support them since the government only consulted First Nation leaders after the fact. Stephen Harper has stated that this Friday’s meeting will address these problems and others.
